Birmingham vs. Bolton: Predictions

Bolton Wanderers come up against what I believe to be a pretty good Birmingham side. Harry Redknapp has some good players among his ranks, recently adding Isaac Vassell.

However, Redknapp is struggling for strikers: Clayton Donalson and Vassell (who has only played up to League 2 level) are his only options. I have liked Donaldson for a number of years, and I do know that Vassell is highly rated, but I would have thought that if our defence was suited to dealing with any strike force in this league, a Clayton Donaldson led one would be it. Not because Donaldson is bad, but because I think the strength of centre backs Beevers, Dervite and Burke are suited to dealing with his height and strength.

I did say something similar before the Millwall match though – that we’d like playing against Steve Morrison and that didn’t work out so well, so let’s not get too hopeful. Also, as I say, they have got some very good players at this level like Premier League veteran, Craig Gardner. They beat Crawley 5-1 last week, before beating Bristol City 2-1 on Saturday.

Our weekend tie against Millwall wasn’t convincing. We lacked width, and never really got going. I do not expect Parkinson to go with my ingenious 4-2-3-1, and if he doesn’t read my advice here on Wanderers Station, he deserves to lose.

A 2-1 win to a good Birmingham side awaits, methinks.

  1. C’mon Nicky. Let’s be braver than that! A well earned, battling draw for me. If Morais plays some part, then the sky’s the limit!
