Matias’ thoughts on 3-5-2

Seven games into the Championship season, and no victory. Just two draws is all Parkinson has to show for it. But this is not the most important thing, the worrying thing is the lack of creativity and the long balls to poor Gary Madine

I thank Parky for the promotion last season and I know the difficulties he had to set up the squad this season, but his game plan does not work with the resources one has in his team. It is true that the injuries of Vela and Ameobi have not helped but I think we have template to try something more ambitious and for this we need a change of tactic that gives the team safety in defence and projection in the attack: that would be a 4-2-3-1, as said before by many others.

Now Ipswich is coming and the illusion of making history in West Ham by the Carabao Cup. It is interesting to focus on the cup but we can not neglect the championship which is the main objective. We will continue looking for that first victory that gives confidence to the team and we need to make us strong in the Macron can not come any team and leave us with no chance in our house and with our people.

Parky I trust in your wisdom and that you will not be so stubborn to die with your strategy. If this does not work is the time to make a change and I hope that by the time you do it isn´t late, there is still a long way to go, but this way we will not have many chances to stay in this league.

  1. Well said, Matias! Parky roughly picked the same eleven that lost to Middlesbrough, to play against Ipswich, today. But appeared to have learned from his mistakes by having Morais and Noone support Madine. Last week, Madine struggled alone up front. By now, you will know that Bolton lost again 2 – 0. It appears that the team gave a good account of themselves until suffering a harsh, deflected goal. We created a few good chances ourselves, but were unable to convert any of them. Obviously, our Achilles Heel. Until we start to score regularly, we are always going to be susceptible to the opposition snatching a winner. We have to support Parky and give him a fair chance now that we are out of the embargo. In fact, it’s hard to see what else another manager could do. Keep the faith!

PS…….I hope it’s a lot warmer where you are!!
