Match Preview – BWFC vs Bristol City

Fresh off a fantastic opening weekend, we welcome the first visitors to the University of Bolton Stadium (name really rolls off the tongue), Bristol City.

A huge statement was made 6 days ago as a threadbare Whites squad plundered all three points at The Hawthorns with a last minute Wildschut winner.

Last year, Bristol City were riding high, reaching the League Cup Semi-Final, but after this, their form suffered a bit and they missed out on the playoffs by a fair margin. We all remember Ameobi’s lung busting run and 25 yard finish when we defeated them 1-0 in this fixture last year but after leaving with an injury last week there have been no updates from the club as to whether he’ll feature tomorrow.

With no new arrivals as of yet, I would bet that we will see the same side, plus or minus Ameobi, take the field this week. If Sammy isn’t fit we have a surplus of wingers to fill the void. Noone had an amazing pre season and Wildschut’s winner will put them both in contention should the right side be available.

City drew at home to a good Forest side last week and on Deadline Day lost their prized fullback Bryan. I expect a difficult game here with not much given up either way. The frenzy of a week ago has my head screaming 2-0 but my heart says we’ll likely have to settle with a 1-1 draw.

I’d normally put forward a side that I’d like to see play but given the WBA win as I mentioned above, I think it’s a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Come on you Whites! Let’s prove the doubters wrong yet again!
