Epsiode 1 | Chat with a fan

We’re delighted to once again be working with Bolton Nuts – a fantastic Bolton Wanderers forum and community. As part of this, we’re interviewing fans on the forum which you can see here. In doing so, we hope to get a sense of fans’ expectations and opinions at the start of the season. It’ll be particularly interesting to revisit these as the season develops. All fans have been asked the same six questions. Here are our first two participants.

So, here are user MartinBWFC’s answers:

When did you first start supporting Bolton?

Started watching in 1975.

Who is your favourite Bolton player of all time?

Hard one, but probably Worthington.

What has been your favourite Bolton match of all time?

Reading play-off final.

What are your thoughts on the season so far?

Can’t complain, better than expected.

What are your thoughts on Phil Parkinson?

Parkinson deploys dated tactics, and in my opinion doesn’t know how to adopt attack minded tactics.

Where do you think we’ll finish this season?

Anywhere above 20th will be acceptable, however for the purposes of progression mid table should be the aim

Next up is boltonbonce

When did you first start supporting Bolton?

Watched my first game in 1959,and spent half time crying and wanting to go home. Something I’m still doing on a regular basis.

Who is your favourite Bolton player of all time?

This is too tough a question, but I’m going to leave Nat Lofthouse out of it, and say Jussi. Bargain of the century.

What has been your favourite Bolton match of all time?

Reading play-off final.

What are your thoughts on the season so far?

Pleasantly surprised, but, like any Wanderer, waiting for the custard pie.

What are your thoughts on Phil Parkinson?

Predictable, but solid on his own level, which is probably the bottom half of the Championship.

Where do you think we’ll finish this season?

I think we’ll finish a safe 14th.

So here, I think it’s safe to say that there is general agreement between both that this season we’ll be looking to better our last minute survival campaign with a steadier mid table finish. However, boltonbonce is perhaps more positive on Phil Parkinson. They both, however, agree on the legendary play-off final.
